Reason is (sometimes) Bullshit
Have you ever been late to the meeting or work or study?
If so, what did you tell your colleague?
It’s sometimes because there are a lot of traffics.
It’s sometimes because of the accidents.
All of them are true, and reasonable.
But is it important enough to reason with them
Bernard Roth provide some useful insight about this reasoning in his book , The Achievement Habit.
We want reasons to make us look reasonable.
However, Reason can make us feel that we can throw away your responsibility for your behavior to that circumstance to the trash.
Reason can hinder the fact that it is not your first priority so you don’t put enough effort to.
Finally, he recommend not to find any reason, so that it can reflect the real fact.
If you can be responsible to the problem, it will create a new opportunity to change your behavior and make improvement of yourself.
